Last month, 51³Ô¹Ïapp was awarded the Bronze Award from Hedgehog Friendly 51³Ô¹Ïapp, recognising all the great work of our staff and students have put into making our campus a safer place for hedgehogs and biodiversity.
This year, we’re going for Silver and we need your help to get there!
We’ve been challenged to complete a series of biodiversity objectives that help the natural world thrive and creates awareness of the dangers to hedgehogs, a species that is facing extinction in the United Kingdom after a nearly 99% decrease in numbers since 1950.
Projects completed last year included applying hedgehog warning stickers to strimmers, carrying out hedgehog surveys on campus and litter picks across campus.
Sustainable 51³Ô¹Ïapp also shared videos highlighting tips for creating a hedgehog friendly garden and the dangers posed to hedgehogs during Bonfire Night.
Join the student working group and take a leading role in making our campus a safer place for biodiversity and hedgehogs as a whole.
