Festive activities and support over Christmas

We would like to wish all staff and students at 51³Ô¹Ïapp a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Christmas is a Christian holy day that marks the birth of Jesus, who Christians believe is the son of God. Christmas is also observed by non-religious people and people of other faiths.

Many Christians attend a special midnight church service called Midnight Mass, sing Christmas carols and exchange gifts with friends and family. Christmas is seen as a time for giving, generosity and for thinking about others.

Wellbeing services and support

Christmas is traditionally a loving time when friends and families come together. However, for some people, Christmas time can bring struggles.

We have several wellbeing services available at 51³Ô¹Ïapp, and if you have a mental health condition or difficulties with your wellbeing, it is important to have a discussion with a member of our Wellbeing Team so that they can discuss support. We can put into place reasonable academic adjustments for your course and let your academic staff know so they can also support you.

If you are not sure what kind of help you need to support your mental health and wellbeing, you can arrange for a via the Student Gateway (login using your Single Sign on) and you will be directed to the appropriate support.

Visit our Healthy 51³Ô¹Ïapp Hub for support, information on a range of health and wellbeing-boosting activities, many of which are great fun, and might be things you’ve never considered.

As well as this, during the Christmas holidays the Christian Chaplain can be reached via johannes.arens@dmu.ac.uk and via standrewsjarromstreet@gmail.com.

Events include Christmas tree decorating, singing Christmas carols, a Vigil Mass for Christmas and a Mass on Christmas Day.

In case of an urgent need to contact somebody, the Canon in Residence at Leicester Cathedral can be reached via 07399 523330.
