51³Ô¹Ïappsport will be joining in the national celebration of from 14-20 September. During this period of isolation and disruption caused by COVID-19, coaches, instructors and physical activity leaders have been vital in keeping people active, supporting people’s mental health and connecting communities that may have experienced social isolation.
Coaches are extremely valuable contributors to inclusion and raising the aspirations of students at 51³Ô¹Ïapp and help to bridge gaps between gender and race. We currently work with 33 coaches and four instructors to deliver safe, enjoyable and relevant activities for students through our Sports Clubs and 51³Ô¹Ïappactive sessions, with an additional 50 students volunteering as Activators to supplement this offer.
As a result, through the fantastic, welcoming and engaging approach of our coaches we successfully engaged 4,755 students last year in club activities and Active sessions!
We at 51³Ô¹Ïappsport would love to use UK Coaching Week 2020 to say a huge public thank you to our coaching workforce and additionally to use the opportunity to establish a 51³Ô¹Ïapp coaching community. If you coach, lead sessions or volunteer in a sporting or physical activity session, we want to offer support. You may even be interested from an academic perspective, through experiences such as .
Please email sports@dmu.ac.uk if you are interested in being a part of this community.
Keep up to date throughout the week via @51³Ô¹Ïappsports across social media.
