Also known as the Festival of Lights, Diwali is celebrated by Hindus, Sikhs, Jains and Buddhists every autumn.
The festival spiritually signifies the victory of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, good over evil, and hope over despair.
Diwali is traditionally celebrated by lighting diyas and candles, praying to Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Ganesh.
Celebrations in Leicester this year will be held virtually, but there will still be lots for you to get involved in and share with family and friends wherever they are in the world.
The main event will be hosted by BBC Radio Leicester’s Kamlesh Purohit. The celebration features new music, storytelling and dance that have been specially filmed for this event plus performances and footage of the spectacular firework displays from previous years.
Watch the celebrations live from 7pm on Saturday 14 November.
