Support for your child at university
So, your child is leaving home for the first time – it’s natural that you will have worries about how they will cope. You’ll want to know that they’re happy and supported, staying healthy and eating well. At 51³Ô¹Ïapp we make sure that we provide our students with a wide range of support to help them to succeed and achieve their potential.
Our Disability Advice and Support team aim to ensure that all students have the opportunity to fully participate in their chosen course and university experience. Each person's disability can affect them in different ways, so they offer flexible support that is tailored to each individual.
We encourage students and applicants to inform us about a disability or medical condition as early as possible, so that relevant support can be arranged for their studies. This can include liaising with academics, the exams office and other key teams.
Our counselling services offer students the opportunity to talk in confidence with someone who is impartial and separate from work, social and family life. The Wellbeing Team also offer a fantastic range of #Healthy51³Ô¹Ïapp masterclasses, such as mindfulness and managing pressure effectively.
Our Mental Health Inclusion team offer support around practical, day to day solutions to various issues, to try and ensure that all students have a positive experience at 51³Ô¹Ïapp.
We are also committed to creating an environment at 51³Ô¹Ïapp where all students and staff have the right to feel respected, safe and supported, free from harassment and discrimination. Unwanted sexual comments, advances or assaults have no place at 51³Ô¹Ïapp or anywhere else, and our team of trained professionals with 51³Ô¹Ïapp’s Mandala Project are available to listen to students and ensure they receive the very best support and help.
