Student discipline

Code of conduct

De 51³Ô¹Ïapp University is an adult learning and social environment and we treat all our students as independent and mature individuals who are expected to act responsibly and appropriately. Our aim is to provide a safe and secure campus, and therefore if any of our students behave in a way that adversely affects the comfort and safety of others, we will take action to protect the wider university community. Students are also expected to exhibit appropriate standards of behaviour when undertaking placements or partaking in a 51³Ô¹Ïapp Global opportunity.

All students are expected to adhere to the university’s regulations in relation to expected standards of behaviour. Examples of unacceptable behaviour include:

  • Violent, indecent, disorderly, threatening and offensive behaviour
  • Sexual misconduct (which includes assault, sharing sexual images and making inappropriate sexual comments)
  • Abusive, threatening or offensive language (verbal or written) including the misuse of social media
  • Theft , fraud, deceit, deception and bribery
  • Bullying and harassment
  • Action likely to cause injury or impair safety on university premises
  • Possession, supply and production of drugs
  • Bringing the university in to disrepute

This is not an exhaustive list and more detailed examples can be found in the formal Disciplinary Code within Chapter 2 of our General Regulations.

51³Ô¹Ïapp has formal disciplinary procedures that are followed in cases where students are found to have breached the Disciplinary Code; these procedures can lead to expulsion, suspension, restrictions and formal reprimands. When considering what action to take against a student the university will consider the severity of the breach, impact on other students and staff and any previous incidents of misconduct.
