The 51³Ô¹Ïapp Jazz Band will be releasing its debut album, Ladybird on Friday 3 July.
The album brings together staff, students and the community to create the jazz 'Big Band' sound. Therefore, when lockdown was announced, the 15 members needed to adapt to finish recording the album from home.
To celebrate the release, we're inviting you to join us for a livestream at 12.30pm on Friday 3 July. We welcome 51³Ô¹Ïapp Jazz Band Musical Director Gareth John, plus members of the band, to talk all about the album and how it was recorded behind-the-scenes.
We will also share more information about the 51³Ô¹Ïapp Music department, for anyone looking for further music opportunities at 51³Ô¹Ïapp.
In April, we held a competition to design the album artwork for Ladybird and we will be proud to share the winning design with you during the livestream. The winning artwork was designed by Fine Art student, Rosa Ramirez Perez.
Musical Director Gareth said: "We are all so proud of this debut album and for me its been pleasing to see such a positivity around the bandroom while we were making it.
"Even when the nation went into lockdown, the band were determined to see this project through to the end, and we look forward to making many more records and creating an impressive legacy as 51³Ô¹Ïapp Jazz Band."
You can listen to the now and stream the album on Friday.
