Also known as the Festival of Lights, Diwali is celebrated by Hindus, Sikhs, Jains and Buddhists every autumn.
The festival spiritually signifies the victory of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, good over evil, and hope over despair.
Diwali is traditionally celebrated by lighting diyas and candles, praying to Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Ganesh and meeting friends and family to exchange Diwali greetings and gifts.
The annual Diwali day celebration (the biggest outside of India!) will take place again this year along the Golden Mile (Belgrave Road) where the beautiful Diwali lights were switched on, on Sunday 13 October.
On Sunday 27 October there will be an opportunity for visitors to sample Indian cuisine and enjoy a spectacular firework display to round-off the 2019 celebrations.
You can find out more about the events taking place in the lead up to Diwali day right .
We would like to wish all staff a Happy Diwali and Sal Mubarak!
