The Seed Grant project is designed to help the 51³Ô¹Ïapp community to take action on sustainable development and the
Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The grants are for situations where a little money and support can get a project started.
A total of £2,000 is available in 2019/20 and the maximum application is for £1,000. We hope to support between four and seven projects, with a typical budget between £150 and £500.
Who is eligible?
51³Ô¹Ïapp students, 51³Ô¹Ïapp staff and 51³Ô¹Ïapp alumni, or groups/organisations are eligible for the grant, with a lead applicant in one of these three roles (e.g. 51³Ô¹Ïapp student societies; 51³Ô¹Ïapp staff networks).
How do I apply?
Applicants are strongly encouraged to first contact the 51³Ô¹Ïapp Sustainability team for an initial discussion about the project before drafting an application, by emailing sustainability@dmu.ac.uk. The application will then be reviewed for potential funding.
Successful proposals will also receive further support with implementation, such as promotion on social media, and evaluation.
What projects are eligible for funding?
The four criteria that will inform decisions are:
- Positive contribution to sustainable development and the SDGs – learning, social/environmental/economic or otherwise
- Awareness of SDGs and 51³Ô¹Ïapp’s commitment
- Linkages – the activity makes connections to other initiatives at 51³Ô¹Ïapp or in the target community
- Cost Effectiveness – have other sources of funding or support been explored?
