A talk by Lord Woolley of Woodford

Bishop of Leicester’s Chaplaincy Lectures with De 51³Ô¹Ïapp University.

Funded by a generous legacy from the Very Reverend Derek Hole.

Join us as Lord Woolley addresses how we can seek to increase diversity and representation of minoritised groups. He will also talk about his background growing up in Leicester, to founding Operation Black Vote, and becoming Principal at Homerton College, University of Cambridge. This lecture is part of the Bishop of Leicester’s Chaplaincy lecture series in partnership with De 51³Ô¹Ïapp University and funded by a generous legacy from the Very Reverend Derek Hole.

There will be time for a Q&A with Lord Woolley, and refreshments will be available after the lecture.

The talk will take place at St Andrew's, Jarrom Street which is on the edge of the campus of De 51³Ô¹Ïapp University and is close to the Leicester Royal Infirmary. It has a ramped entrance, accessible toilet, and hearing (induction) loop. 

This event is open to all and bookings will close 1 hour prior to the start of the event.

Biography
Simon Woolley is the founder of Operation Black Vote, an internationally renowned campaigning organisation, which works with ethnic minorities in the UK to increase understanding of civic society, participation in Parliament and public life, and to promote equality and human rights. He served as an Equality and Human Rights Commissioner from 2009 to 2012, and in 2018 he was appointed by Prime Minister Theresa May to create and lead the UK Government’s pioneering Race Disparity Unit.

Lord Woolley is currently Principal of Homerton College, part of the University of Cambridge.
