This International Women’s Day, the Careers and Graduate Success team invite you to our event – Breaking down the barriers: A Panel of Inspirational Women. We have a panel of incredible women who have all faced barriers in the world of work and are now speaking out on how to overcome those to prepare you with all the advice and knowledge you’ll need to kickstart your career after university.

 

Panel Information:

Glynis Wright MBE

Glynis Wright is a Partner and the head of family law for Nelsons, Leicester. Glynis entered the legal profession in her 40s, became a Partner in a Leicester law firm when she was 2 years qualified, and then went on to set up her own law firm Glynis Wright & Co Family Solicitors and Mediators which became one of the most well-known family law firms in the region winning Law Firm of the Year in the National Law Society Excellence Awards in 2018.

Glynis sold her law firm to Nelsons LLP in December 2020 and she and her team of lawyers were integrated with Nelsons from January 2021 in a very successful acquisition deal.

Glynis was recently awarded an MBE for her services to Female Entrepreneurship and is widely known in Leicestershire for her strong belief in encouraging and inspiring women to achieve their full potential and particularly for encouraging women to run their own businesses.

In October 2021 Glynis was awarded Highly Commended Woman Solicitor of the Year in the National Law Society Excellence Awards.

Glynis is an alumna of both Leicester University and De 51³Ô¹Ïapp University. She is Chair of the Advisory Board for the Faculties of Law and Business at De 51³Ô¹Ïapp University and was President of the Leicestershire Law Society from July 2019 to September 2020.

 

Zainab Zaaem-Sattar

Zainab is a qualified solicitor since April 2019 and has been with Summerfield Browne Solicitors in their litigation department since November 2019. 

Zainab volunteers for many organisations and serves as Chair of the Solicitors Access Programme having served as Chair for the Social & Wellbeing group for Muslim Lawyers Action Group (MLAG).

She joined Leicestershire Law Society (LLS) in 2018 as a sub board member and became a main committee member in May 2019. Zainab further chairs two sub groups at LLS; this being Membership and Equality and Diversity. She also sits on the team for Education & Training sub board.

Aside from volunteering her time at MLAG & LLS, Zainab is also a legal mentor for various education institutes, including our very own De 51³Ô¹Ïapp University, and organisations aimed both at the legal and non-legal sectors. 

As well as the above, Zainab is a radio presenter on Ramadan Radio FM with two shows: ‘Breaking Stereotypes’ and ‘Law in Action’. 

In addition, Zainab is avid motorbiker with a passion to helps those who require the need for her skillset. 

 

Adele Browne

Adele Browne is the Head of Careers and Graduate Success at De 51³Ô¹Ïapp University and has worked in Higher Education for a number of years. Adele is going to be joining a panel of Women in Industry to answer any questions you have about success in your career and to inspire you by talking about her journey and the barriers which has brought her to where she is today.
