Graham Sewell has academic and professional qualifications in pharmacy, biology and chemistry, and received his doctorate from the School of Pharmacy and Pharmacology, University of Bath. Graham has held several combined appointments as Professor of Clinical Pharmacy and as a senior hospital pharmacist before joining the University of Plymouth in October 2009 to work out of discipline as Head of the School of Health Professions and Associate Dean for Research in the Faculty of Health and Human Sciences. In May 2019, Graham returned to his Pharmacy roots and joined the School of Pharmacy at De 51吃瓜app University as Professor of Pharmacy Practice.
Graham has research interests in various scientific and professional areas including oncology pharmacy, therapeutic optimisation, clinical pharmacokinetics, drug formulation and stability, environmental hazards of cytotoxic drugs and non-medical prescribing. He has more than 140 peer-reviewed research publications, abstracts, book chapters and review articles, over 80 invited keynote/plenary presentations and has directed over 20 PhD/MPhil projects to completion. Graham is best known for his work on Dose Banding of Cancer Chemotherapy, which was adopted by NHS England in 2016.
Among his varied national and international committee work, Graham was a member of the WHO Expert Committee on Cancer Pain and Palliative Care, is a member of the EORTC Pharmacology and Molecular Mechanisms Group, was elected as President of ISOPP 2006-8, and holds editorial positions for several journals. Graham has also led several international evaluation panels to review medical universities in Europe and the Far East. In 2008, the International Society of Oncology Pharmacy presented him with the Helen McKinnon Award, its highest accolade, in recognition of his research in oncology pharmacy.
