Personal profile

Rod Duncan writes alternate history novels, contemporary crime novels, feature film screenplays, poetry, radio drama, short stories and non-fiction. He is also a photographer. His novels have been shortlisted for the Philip K. Dick Award, the John Creasey Dagger and the East Midlands Book award. He won the Leicestershire Book of the Year Award in 2018.

Worldbuilding in fiction. Narrative drive in fiction. The novel as a contribution to discourse. Neurodivergence and the creative process.

Courses taught

On the undergraduate Creative Writing BA, Rod teaches Professional Writing Skills. On the Creative Writing MA he contributes to the Case Study / Negotiated Module and Writing Ecosystems.

Projects

Rod's creative practice is centred around novel writing, but encompasses other forms. He enjoys artistic collaboration and usually has several narrative projects ongoing.
